Rosacea is a prevalent and chronic skin disease, most commonly encountered in mature subjects. It is quite commonly misdiagnosed as regular acne or allergy caused by other diseases Practice shows that the first stage of the disease is also quite commonly ignored by patients themselves.
The disease derives its name for its presentation involving periodical facial redness or predisposition for capillary breakage. These symptoms (redness, broken capillaries) should be the first warning sign urging the patient to consult a dermatologist, as untreated rosacea may develop into more serious stages. Thus, the disorder should not be disregarded. Its clinical course consists of 4 stages, although not all of them may occur in the presented order.
Prerosacea – the preliminary stage, often referred to as couperose skin, characterized by erythema and rare incidence of telangiectasias, or dilated blood vessels. At this stage, erythema may occur e.g. In stressful situations, following sudden temperature changes, or after alcohol consumption.
Stage I – characterized by rapid, periodical occurrence of intensive facial redness secondary to emotional or physical stimuli. At this stage, blood vessel dilatation occurs, accompanied by burning, swelling, excessive skin heat. The symptoms, however, are transient in nature.
Stage II is characterized by chronic erythema and numerous telangiectasias.
Stage III, involving the above symptoms along with papulae, pustulae, and swelling.
Stage IV, involving rhinophyma, is observed only in male patients.
In case of patients presenting with rosacea, dermatologists at Medicus Self develop a treatment plan aimed at shortening the duration and reducing the intensity of the disease, taking into consideration all treatment recommendations, including laser therapy. The basis for implementation of this treatment plan consists in the evaluation of the extent, stage, and size of lesions and the analysis of the history of treatment during the dermatological consultation.
At our Clinic, we offer laser therapy as a method for the treatment of erythematous skin lesions as well as broken vessels. Treatment plans include combined techniques so as to stay true to our corporate standard of meeting patients’ expectations as quickly as possible, and most patients expect the results of acne-prone skin treatment to be evident as quickly as possible.
Depending on the stage of the disease, the treatment of rosacea involving administration topical and oral medication is supported by additional peels and laser therapy for additional effects.
One of the most advanced techniques is
V-beam Perfecta making use of pulsed-dye laser (PDL) technology. A pulse of light impacts the lesion to be absorbed by the blood vessel, resulting in its damage. The damaged vessel is then eliminated from the system within 2-8 weeks. In case of extensive or branched lesions, the procedure should be repeated; appropriate procedure series are scheduled individually as part of the Medicus Self treatment plan.
Another effective method for rosacea treatment is chemical peels, including
Delicate exfoliating acid with hibiscus flower extract is strongly antibacterial, regulates pigmentation and reduces the erythema.
– better skin firmness
– more even skin color
– pore contraction
– strongly hydrated, smooth skin
– fresh and radiant look.Umów się na wizytę >
