Complexes caused by small breasts, lost breast firmness, dissatisfaction with the shape of the breasts.
Shapely, full, and firm breasts are a feminine attribute desired by many women. In order to achieve the desired effect and get rid of their complexes, women dissatisfied with the size or the shape of their breast decide to take advantage of treatments offered at specialized medical centers. Breast augmentation is currently one of the most popular procedures in plastic surgery.
The selection of appropriate implants is one of the most important stages of augmentation treatment. The implant may determine the success of procedure and patient’s satisfaction. Besides deciding on the target size of the breast, a decision should also be made with regard to the type of implants. Today, breast implants come in different shapes, such as teardrop or round-shaped, fillings, and textures. Implant must be precisely selected not only to the expectations and aesthetic preference of the patient, but also to the overall body structure and size of existing breast.
Anesthesia and the course of the surgery
Breast augmentation procedures are usually performed under general anesthesia and last 1 to 2 hours. For most patients, hospitalization lasts 24-48 hours.
The procedure consists in implant being placed under each breast; the method of implantation and implant location depend on anatomical predispositions of patients. The surgeon makes an incision in one of three locations including inframammary fold, areola of the nipple, or the armpit region. Tissues are dissected to form a pocket where the implant will be placed.
Finally, sutures and drains are put into place.
After the procedure, elastic bandage dressing is put in place for 10 days. Special bra must also be worn. Pain may be experienced during the first days after the surgery and the use of painkillers may be required. In addition, the following recommendations should be complied with following breast augmentation:
