Acne

Acne is a chronic disorder associated with hyperactivity of sebaceous glands along with hyperkeratinization and bacterial proliferation. Excessive stimulation of glands may be due to numerous factors including hormones, growth factors, and nutritional elements. Acne is usually associated with puberty and occurs in nearly 80% of adolescents, being manifested by pimples or spots. Most commonly, acne is manifested by the presence of comedones. Bacteria colonizing the skin proliferate and produce sebum, leading to inflammation and pimple formation. Acne is observed in the regions characterized by the highest density of sebaceous glands, most commonly in the face, i.e. on the nose, chin, cheeks, and the forehead, as well as on the back, décolleté, and sometimes in the buttocks region.  Of course, the course of the disease may be mild or moderate in some subjects, and severe and very troublesome in others, who may develop acne scars.

In case of patients presenting with acne-prone skin, dermatologists at Medicus Self develop a treatment plan aimed at shortening the duration and reducing the intensity of the disease, taking into consideration all treatment recommendations, including prevention of scars and discolorations, and measures to eliminate them should they be inevitable. The basis for implementation of this treatment plan consists in the evaluation of the extent size of acne lesions, the intensity of seborrhea, history of treatment to date, and predisposition to complications such as discoloration or scars during the dermatological consultation.

Notably, acne treatment plans are developed individually for each patient and different results may be obtained as a result of the same product being used in different patients, and thus dermatological consultation is the best and the safest approach.

Treatment plans often include combinations of different therapeutic modalities, therapeutic procedures, or laser therapy. This approach reflects our corporate standard of meeting patients’ expectations as quickly as possible, and most patients expect the results of acne-prone skin treatment to be evident as quickly as possible.

At the Clinic, we use products of a renowned American brand, DermaQuest. Therapeutic procedures and advanced chemical peels

Depending on the type of acne, the treatment administration topical and oral medication is supported by additional peels and laser therapy.
